Hoshino Tomamu’s Firefly(Hotalu)Street: Wine House Offers 16 Craft Wines! Savor Hokkaido’s Terroir

WINE HOUSE is located in Building A of Firefly(Hotalu) Street, near the first building of TOWER. They offer sixteen different Hokkaido red and white wines. If you like them, you can also purchase a full bottle to enjoy in your room. As soon as Jesse saw it, she wanted to arrange a tasting here during the meal. In addition to selling red and white wines, they also offer cheese pairings. Since the wines available change frequently, the selection is based on what’s currently offered. It’s highly recommended to stop by for a few drinks and experience the unique terroir of Hokkaido through their wines.

When I first walked in, the young man behind the counter seemed a bit startled by my arrival. Typically, it’s quiet in the afternoon, but my sudden appearance had him scrambling. However, the staff here are usually warm and welcoming. Later, a friend joined me, and I even helped translate for an Australian guest who purchased a bottle of red wine (the staff’s English was limited, so I ended up chatting with the guest).

• Tasting Pour: 30ML (ranging from 400-800 JPY, prices as marked on-site). Full bottles are also available for purchase.
• Carafe Bottle: Starting from 2,800 JPY / 200ml (prices as marked on-site).
• VINO BAG: This package includes two Hokkaido wines, Hoshino Farm cheese, and Ezo deer ham. You can take it back to your room or enjoy it in the farm area. Cost: 2,000 JPY per person.

Hokkaido Local Sparkling Wine

I thought they would keep a few specific bottles on display, but as soon as one bottle was finished by a group, they replaced it with another.

• Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
• Grape Source: Blend from own vineyards “Hi no Hatake” (陽の畑) and “Kidachi no Hatake” (木立の畑)
• Alcohol Content: 13.0%
• Winemaking Style: Natural (fermented with wild yeast, minimal to no filtration)
