At COMPUTEX 2026, China Airlines officially unveiled the cabin product for its highly anticipated Boeing 787 fleet. Following the aircraft’s delivery, it will undergo a Taiwan CAA five-stage certification process before debuting on short-haul routes to Seoul and Osaka, eventually serving long-haul destinations. Here are the key specifications for the new Premium Economy class.

  • Technical Specs: 39-inch seat pitch, 2-3-2 configuration, 28 seats total (four rows).
  • Connectivity: Equipped with universal power outlets, USB Type-C, and USB Type-A charging ports.
  • Entertainment System: 15.6-inch 4K display with Bluetooth audio pairing and smartphone-as-remote functionality. The 787 fleet marks a transition to the SAFRAN IFE platform.
  • Storage: Dedicated cup holder, tablet/phone stand, and integrated storage compartments on both sides of the seat cushion.
  • Seat Design: Unlike the shell-style seats on current A350/777 aircraft, the 787 Premium Economy features a traditional recline mechanism.
  • Cabin Aesthetics: Inspired by the “Night View of Jiufen,” the cabin incorporates motifs of Taiwanese mountains and butterflies, maintaining the signature rose-gold elegance of China Airlines’ 777/A350 fleet.

  • The core product is a customized version of the RECARO R4 / 3810 platform.
