To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon and the 40th anniversary of ANA’s international routes, All Nippon Airways has launched a special project introducing three themed Pokémon Jets: “Red,” “Green,” and “Blue.” Debuting first is the “Red” aircraft, featuring a lineup of ten Fire-type Pokémon. While “Red” and “Blue” will primarily operate on domestic Japanese routes, the “Blue” jet will soar across ANA’s international network. Registered as JA819A, this striking red aircraft was painted and prepped by MRO Japan in Okinawa.

Exciting Pokémon GO in-game event features tied to the aircraft launch.

  • Overall collaboration & Phase 1: July 28, 2026, 16:00 – August 31, 2027, 20:00 (JST)
  • A total of 3 phases are planned. Phases 2 and 3 will roll out at airports across Japan
    alongside the launches of “Pokémon Jet Green” and “Pokémon Jet Blue.” Details will be
    announced on the campaign site and the official Pokémon GO website.
  • Target Airports (Phase 1)
    • New Chitose Airport, Hakodate Airport, Akita Airport, Sendai Airport, Haneda Airport
      (Terminals 2 & 3), Narita Airport (Terminal 1)
  • PokéStops and Gyms
    • One new PokéStop and one Gym have been added to each target airport (with multiple
      locations set up at Narita Terminal 1 and Haneda Terminals 2 & 3).
      PokéStops will feature a special “ANA x Pokémon 30th Anniversary” collaboration logo.
  • Special Raid Battles
    • Special Raid Battles will take place daily from 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM at the new Gyms.
      Phase 1 features Charmander. Defeating the Raid Boss gives you a chance to catch a
      Pokémon featuring a special Location Background of the painted aircraft (if you’re lucky, you
      might even encounter a Shiny Pokémon!).
  • Featured Pokémon
    • In addition to Pokémon with special Location Backgrounds, trainers can catch Pokémon
      originally discovered in Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue in celebration of the 30th
      anniversary.
  • Timed Research
    • Visiting a participating airport unlocks exclusive Timed Research. Completing it rewards an
      encounter with an event-themed Pokémon.
    • Each Trainer can only claim this once across all Phase 1 airports (Please note: Timed
      Research expires 3 days after being received)

Behind-the-Scenes Press Trip Highlights

For this livery unveiling, Jesse was proud to be the sole media representative from Taiwan. It was my first time attending a press conference hosted by a Japanese carrier, and the biggest difference was having ample time—roughly 2.5 hours—to meticulously photograph all the fine details. The scale and professionalism of the Japanese news media were also striking compared to what we typically see in Taiwan, including a crew of three equipped with professional multi-mic audio gear. I also had the opportunity to step inside ANA’s maintenance hangar once again. Securing a spot on their Blue Hanger Tour is notoriously difficult; I checked for two straight weeks without finding a single opening (peaking right during the busy summer family vacation season). Luckily, I managed to book another hugely popular option instead: the ANA Blue Base Tour, which explores their state-of-the-art training center.
